WELL , The proper way to pack is not often used by the Sender, and is a GOOD idea>

A properly packed box should have white styrofoam square sheet on bottom of box to start, a sheet on each side and then lizard container in middle surrounded by newpaper or some sort of packing material followed by another sheet of styrofoam on top , them close box, also remembering holes are poked in each container, for air. The styrofoam sheets almost create a more firm box within a box, and can support better if weight is applied. ! I have only recieved packing done like this from 2 people, one was an online pet store.

I use thick Styrofoam...it's a bit more expensive than what Eve uses, but well worth it...much like the sand I use LOL...

Just kidding. I use some boxes that preserved bacterial culters are shipped in...we get them at work all the time. I put holes in all sides, and put the lizards in the center, tied in a sock. All sides of the lizard are covered wit crumpled papertowels...Can't get any softer than that ride...

I guess I could use some Charmin, rather than the papertowels. During the hotter months though, I was really worried that too much insulation would hold the heat in, rather than keep it out. Yea, it would keep it out, but once it warmed up, it would stay warmed up. I decided the cardboard would breathe better when it was warm out. But as Eve said...the cardboard lacks the strenth.
