Wellness checkups completed

pythonaddict Apr 10, 2009 11:08 PM

Well, a few of you recommended I forgo the wellness check ups on my snakes, but I took them anyway. Each came out with a clean bill of health, but not without a few surprises. Our adult female was the biggest shocker. She weighed in at exactly 5lbs (2267.961 grams), which was a nice weight gain from her last visit in 2006 when she was 3.4lbs. Our oldest male, was up from his 87 grams in 2006 to 897 grams. Now, as for the ball that caused such a stink last week...The vet was completely unbelieving as to his age. He weighted in at 325 grams. The vet saw no signs of diseases, parasites, or sickness. He did recommend a deworming in case his small stature was due to worms, but other than that he saw no reason for us to be concerned. Our newest addiction, the pastel, weighted 386 grams. Our jungle carpet x diamond also had a nice increase from 75 grams to 3lbs (1360.777 grams) on the dot. So, everyone is happy, healthy, fat and sassy. If anyone is SC needs a vet recommendation, let me know, because not only does our vet treat herbs, but he owns them.

Glad to hear all your balls passed their "wellness checkup" with flying colours. I hope the vet trip wasn't too expensive. However: "not only does our vet treat herbs, but he owns them." Not sure if I would trust a vet that works with herbs, those types of people are usually quite unfocussed and always snacking.

Thanks for making fun of my typo, lol. No, our vet charges a flat rate for multiple animals/reptiles. It was worth it though for piece of mind.
