These are pretty hard to photograph accurately.... The flash brightened the snake up too much. They look darker in person.

I like those things. More so becuase of where they came from rather than how they look. A childhood classic .

Yeah, I remember when I photographed my first one to post on FHF. The snakes light rings looked a lot brighter from the flash making it look like a normal Cal king. They really are darker under normal lighting and finding them out in the wild is a real treat because you see many normals before one of these turn up. Very cool snake, Byron.

I'm going to get these guys outside in some filtered light and see if I can capture the contrast more accurately.
You do a way better job of photographing these than I do.
