Grapevine?

bparmstrong Sep 12, 2003 12:06 PM

Hi all
I have been looking for some good furniture for my panthers. I really love grapevine and I havn't been able to find any large pieces. The local petstores sell 18" for around $18. Is there a better way to find the stuff? My cages are 36" high so I need some bigger pieces. What do you guys decorate your big cages with?
Thanks

I use branches from my yard if there are any I happen to like. You can get lots of variety of sizes and shapes. I scrub them with a dilute 10:1 solution of hot water/bleach to remove molds or mosses and loose bark, let them dry thoroughly in sun, and attach them with light gauge hobby wire to the cage screen. Then I keep checking pet shops for a nice piece of grapevine to add later. I do not use manzanita sold for parrot perches...it is quite smooth and the chams often have trouble gripping it.

use twist ties and mount the grape vine from the top of the cage. So it faces down toward your plants.

That would be a great way to provide a twisted basking branch.
