LITTER #3. Anery X Hypo Jungle 5 days...

Ruben14 Apr 11, 2009 03:11 PM

early.

So lastnite my Anery dropped. I knew she was going to go soon cause she was looking all around yesterday. I went out for a bit and sure enough when I got home I had babies and slugs. 13 slugs and 6 babies. 1 Hypo Jungle 4 Jungles and 1 normal. The best looking Jungle, another Jungle and the Normal didnt make it threw the nite. The Hypo Jungle and 2 more Jungles are still alive but not really moving much and 2 still have the yolk sacks attached to them. Lastnite I thought they all were stillborn at first cause none of them were moving. Then I finally noticed some weak movement. They weren't due till Wednesday. Hopefully atleast one will make it. Momma took a nice bite outta my hand also. I mean she nailed me. My hand is bruised and cut up pretty good! She looks to be doing awesome though and doesn't look as skinny as the other two females looked after they dropped which makes me very happy. I honestly expected all slugs from her cause she never really got to big so the six babies were a surprise. Like I said though they are very weak so I hope I can save atleast one. Here's a quick pic. The three in the back are still alive as of right now.

Good luck with the survivors. You can never tell how they will do. My recent litter of mostly slugs and stills with four live - the four live are still doing well, even the two I really had doubts about.

Ruben ... get in with those struggling babies every hour and move them around a little ... like pushing them from side to side, but not picking them up. Also, make sure they get plenty of fresh air ... just opening their enclosure every hour should take care of this.

My last year's litter of DH Dwarf Snows looked like they were all going to die ... I would have bet on it ... but after knocking them around a little (every couple hours), the ALL made it and became aggressive eaters and fast growers.

Good Luck ... Bill

Thanks Bill, i'm glad you posted that cause I was doing that with the Snow from my Snowglow litter as he was the runt and I wondered if I was stressing him out more or helping him. To me it seemed to help so i'm glad to hear your story. All three are still with us as of now (12:30pm) so we'll see. One moves around a lot more then the others and strikes and hisses at me so hopefully something will make it. Thaks again for your input.

Damn. I was really hoping that one worked out well for you. Best of luck with the wee ones. I hope the Anery is alright. She is a hot mom now!

So, I woke up today and all three are still alive so far. I thought the Hypo Jungle passed at first but then got him to move. One of the Jungles moves a little and one seems to move more and hisses and strikes at me so I hope something makes it. Yeaterday was a hard day for me, losing the animals I did but talked to a lot of people that made good points so I feel a lot better today. Thanks again for the replies and support.
