I need your help!!!

bigbearhook Apr 11, 2009 05:17 PM

I'm considering getting a carpet python, probably an Irian Jaya. My only problem is, I haven't been around hardly any adults in person so I can't get a good reference as to size. I see pics of adults in cages but that is hard to judge proportion. I've read the caresheets and read how long they get but sometimes that can be deceiving. A 5ft blood seems a LOT bigger that a 7 ft retic.

I need you to post pics of you with your carpets so I can see how big they actually get.

Irian Jayas, Jungles, Coastals, YOU NAME IT, ALL WELCOME.

THANKS,
Jared

Check out my post about size and color. I've got a link for pics of my 3.5yr old male. I can tell you he's already a little over 5.5ft. As for how big they'll get, I'm trying to find that out too. Good luck.

That was taken about a month ago and he's around three and a half years. He was also weighed Friday and he's exactly 3lbs.

As far as comparisons are concerned, most carpets are more comparable to retics than bloods, boas or balls as far as build is concerned.

My male proven breeder is about 6', the female is 7'. Age is about 5-6 years on the pair.
