The insanely bad may rehabilitate to the point of a somewhat normal life with mild issues. The only one I could never rehab totally was the one that was also fed pot and iceberg lettuce. He however did live a fairly normal life with some mild neurological issues for 6 years with me. He never really grew, but remained alert and active. Severe cases where there is lessened function of the hind quarters have the worst outlook.

did you mean pot as in short for potatoes, or pot as in marijuana? just wanted to know cuz if they had that much spare pot it explains why they didnt care for the poor lizard...

Not and ig, but my worst case came to me several years ago when I was asked if I could take in a small green lizard that a student had left in a classroom (for the summer!!). Expecting a green anole, I was handed a critter pal swarming with crickets and a 2 month old veiled chameleon in it. He was laying on the bottom of the cage, completely dehydrated and covered in open wounds. His eye turrets had been eaten away by the crickets and it was several days before we could even determine if he was comletely blind or not. All four of his limbs formed a "C" shape rather then an "L" shape as if he had two extra joints in each leg.
He was started on oral liquid calcium and set up under correct lighting. In his case he still had a lot of growing to do which helped to lessen the deformities over time as normal bone growth was deposited. We called him "Crazy Legs" and he lived for almost five years after that.

If you can get the animal over the hump which is the difficult part in severe cases, then they can usually go on to live happy, albeit crippled lives. If pathological fractures have led to paralysis then you have a much larger problem on your hands.
