Thanks for the kind words Dave.
I'm really excited about the King projects.
I've bred Pueblan Milks before but then my breeder female..I'm embarrassed to admit this...escaped and set that project back 3 years. I will breed those again next year.
I've bought a lot of King breeding stock last year and in a couple of years I hope to breed: Eastern Chain Kings, Cal Kings, Mexican Black Kings, and Nelson's Milks.
I was absolutely terrified to put the desert kings together. You woulodn't believe the feeding response those things have!!! I open up either of their tubs and they're coming OUT to eat something...sometimes my fingers. I kept a close eye on things when I put them together. Thankfully they were both 'in the mood' and not viewing each other as food sources. PHEW!!!!
As far as the corns go, I was absolutely estatic to see the Striped Motley and the Butter Motley lock up.
The first generation will produce 1/2 motleys and 1/2 striped motleys.......
But if I keep some (maybe ALL) of the striped motleys and breed them for an F1 generation:
18/64, Striped Motley
9/64, Motley
9/64, Striped
6/64, Striped Motley, Caramel
6/64, Striped Motley, Amelanistic
3/64, Caramel, Motley
3/64, Amelanistic, Motley
3/64, Caramel, Striped
3/64, Amelanistic, Striped
2/64, Butter, Striped Motley
1/64, Butter, Motley
1/64, Butter, Striped
I'm EXCITED about those possibilities!!! I have no problem waiting for the youngsters to grow either. If I've learned one thing by breeding, its PATIENCE...these projects take years but if you have the what seems to be very rare ability to see beyond the first generation, the wait is worth it.
