Adjustment period?

steveo76 Sep 12, 2003 12:20 PM

I have a question for you guys/gals: How long of an adjustment period is there for Frillies? I've had my female in her new home for just over a week now, prior to that a friend was taking care of her while I got things setup.
She's finally eating more (about 15 crickets in a sitting), but she only likes to eat every other day it seems.
I do have cats and I've kept them out of the room my dragon is in which helped alot (ie: she's eating)
She's not very active, she just hangs on the screen almost all day, and she kindof lays as flat as she can when I enter the room (I guess she doesn't trust me yet.) I try not to handle her, but she only seems to eat if I bring her to the bottom of the tank where the crickets are.
I think my temps are okay - 75 for most of the tank 95 under her heating area.
Is it maybe the humidity level? That's at 60% and I mist her a few times a day.
She doesn't seem to appear sick, the vet said she was okay (I'm worried she'll get sick though if she's too stressed)
I guess I was expecting her to be more active - she was before in her temporary home, but now she has more climbing room (4 ft)
Any thoughts? Or is this normal? I almost never see her move - she does just never when I can see.

Thanks for reading this very long post,

steve

Seems pretty normal for a stressed frilled. I'd give it more time and no handling. You can try to raise the basking temp a little and see if that helps too. And water water water!
Older frilleds and imports tend to take longer to acclimate, but it all depends on the individual. Any move can mean a period of stress.
good luck.
