HR669 - Another Idea

I was trying to think of other ways I could do more to get the word out and get more support in defeating this proposal. I felt that just telling people about this wasn't enough. Given the fact that we have such little time to act, I simply copied the sample letter into a word document and sent it to a copying company. I asked them to make 1000 copies for me. Within a few hours, these "ready-to-sign" letters were in my hands.

I called the two local reptile stores and asked them for their permission to place these letters in their shops. They were more than willing to help. In one day, I was able to get over 100 signed letters in my hands!!! When they signed the letter, I simply asked them to include their return address as well. This way I can put all of their information on the envelope.

I will be taking on the responsiblity of getting these letters into envelopes and addressed to the subcommittee members. I will send these letters to Tom Wolfe so he can distribute them.

I believe if others do this as well, we can flood the subcommittee members with enough letters to make an impact.

Fantastic! Anything we can do to leverage our efforts! Kara from NERD, Jeff Ronne and some others are all using the same basic strategy. Thank you all for doing what it takes! We all have to pull together. I want to commend the [url ban] folks for making a Herculean effort to have a positive impact on the future of this Bill. Everything we can do will help!

I found out reptile shows have done this was to stop everyone coming into the show and in order to get in they must sign up on www.[url ban] site. being we only have 2 weeks left why not see what other shows are this coming weekend and ask them to do the same. Hell should have thought of this alot sooner. Imagine how many could have signed in letters.

Thanks Andrew. I have been in touch with both Kara and Jeff in regards to this effort. I didn't want to use their names without their permission. They have both been great resources in getting support on the way to DC.

Don't forget the "exotic" farm animal people are fighting, too, such as llama keepers. Wonder what they're saying on the ferret and guinea pig forums?

I don't know, but some of the big cat rescues are pushing for the bill.

Amazingly enough, so are some reptile and bird rescue and EVEN individual owners-especially bird owners who can expect polly to be with them the rest of their lives (thus no need to worry about where a replacement will come from)!
