Brumation HELP *please*

slw33 Sep 12, 2003 12:43 PM

I'm worried about my male dragon. He's a little over a year old, so this would be his first time brumating. He started slowing down, sleeping more eating less. I had a fecal done to make sure he was OK health-wise, and that was clean. Anyway the question: He now will sleep for days (like a week to two) then wakes up for a day, eats a few silkies or supers, some veggies (I'll offer them if I see him awake) then he's off again to under his log or in his cave... It doesn't sound like normal brumation, but given a clean fecal and him looking healthy, I can't see that it would be anything else. Cage temps are fine, only change has been when I saw him slowing down, I reduced the "light" time in his cage.

So, is this brumation? Should I be worried?

Some dragons don't sleep at all while brumating. Last year one of mine just sat on his hammock (cool end) and looked dazed for weeks on end. She would do the same thing..sometimes eat, most times not.
