Eastern Eggs

sethsmith Apr 12, 2009 09:20 PM

Got home to find 4 healthy looking eggs laid with one at the
vent. 6 hours later there are now 14 in the incubator with
1 at the vent. All Looking good so far. This is from the first
pair of Robert Bruce easterns obtained from him over 4 years
ago. It's enough to put your nerves on edge.
Happy Easter!

Nice going! That's a nice clutch for a first-time female.

Thank You! 17 laid in under 12 hours! All look good although
none have been candled.

Sethsmith,

that is am amazingly fecund female you have. I have a pair (possibly siblings to yours?) from R. Bruce, 2005's, and I was proud of my female for producing 10 big eggs... How long is your female? Really an amazingly large first clutch. What do you feed her? Well done, I wish you luck and patience with the long incubation ahead. Vic H.

Thanks VICtort,

I'm amazed myself. I hoped for maybe 8 and was worried about her
becoming egg bound. She's 5 1/2 feet and has good weight but not fat. As for food, I always mix it up some. Chicks, mice, chicken
parts with small bones, and rats. She's usually not picky.
That was a big hurdle and i'm feeling good about things but
it seems that my days of stressing aren't over, and yes they very
well could be siblings although its hard to say, Robert I believe
is always trying to expand his gene pool.

Thanks for your support
