I'd save yourself the trouble and just hit Reptile Gardens just outside of Rapid City. They have an outstanding collection and you will not be disappointed. Just so you know, few people here are going to tell a perfect stranger exactly where to look to find herps. Don't take offense to it, but most of us are not looking to have our native wildlife removed by collectors and be left with a landscape void of the animals we are so excited to see in the wild. Even if your just out taking photos, if we post info here, a collector will likely read it too. Sorry!

thanks guys, but Im should have explained myself better. I wasnt really asking for a treasure map, just a point in the right direction.
Im not goin collecting, just exploring (looking). Its a very long drive for me so I just wondered if someone had any tips or pointers.
Yes Im goin to check out that place in rapids, i looked them up on the internet.
Thanks

BTW No offense taken... I toldly understand your point.

Thanks

cuz you'd be wrong Chris! It's MY house now, lol!

Good to know! Now, just for verification purposes, I'm going to need you to PM me an exact address and list of directions to your home. No worries though, it's just protocol. It's perfectly normal on this board.
The black Hills are beuatiful, so you'll have an enjoyable time with snakes or without. Since night time temps are still likely to be chilly in South Dakota, your best bet might be to look around the South Western side of any rocky outcrops in the afternoon-evening hours. Good luck to you and please let us know if you find anything. Say "Hi" to Terry P. and Reptile Gardens for me.
