A question was asked last week about the record size of Brazilian Rainbow Boas. As far as I know there is no officially recognized record for the largest Brazilian Rainbow Boa. The largest ones I have owned or seen have been around 7.5 feet in length. I have heard several people talk about seeing newly imported Brazilian Rainbow Boas that were over 8 feet long and even a few that were over 9 feet long. My guess is that there were very few imported that were actually measured at more than 9 feet long. Peruvian and Isla Marajo Rainbow Boas are both noted for being large Rainbow Boas but I have not heard of any of them that were especially large. My larger ones of both of these subspecies have tended to be more heavy bodied than especially long as adults. The Peruvian and Isla Marajo subspecies have not been imported in any numbers and so we do not get much of an idea of how large they may actually get in the wild.
This is a typical large adult female Peruvian Rainbow Boa. She is a little over 7 feet long. I believe she weighed around 10.5 pounds when the PIC was taken. Hopefully this post will prompt other people to post PICs of their large Rainbow Boas.
