last question...New corn

yankeeslover Apr 14, 2009 09:49 PM

Promise my last question(I hope)..for those following my post... I purchased baby corn 2.5 weeks ago..I had to take him back last week cause he was sick...if you remember I tried for 2 weeks to get him to eat and wouldnt touch food, nor would he ever come out of hiding... I traded him in last Friday 4/10 for another corn, which was a tad bigger...I have a couple questions..He ate 2 pinkys at the Petco in front of me..When should I attempt to feed him again? He has been out like clockwork the past three nights, crusing all night long(he is very very far from skittish)also, since he looks very comfortable in his tank, when can I start light handling? I have had him for 4 nights now, and he is out as soon as light goes off, and does not mind me there(he is in 2 feet from my desk in my bedroom, and I talk on phone all day long in front of him)...so, to recap, When should I atempt to feed him? and when can I start light handling? I dont want to rush it, but dont want to wait too long, he seems very very comfortable right now..thanks, Pete

some feed every five days some five to seven. I personally feed once a week should be sufficient.
Unless you are trying force it to breeder size in a short time, once a week. At least I think so anyway.
Handle the snake for a few minutes every day. It will get you used to each other.

I would wait another day to try feeding. I would also wait to try to handle him until you have successfully fed. Another thing to remember is that you have to wait 24 to 48 hours after you feed to handle. All in all, that will put you around a week after purchase before handling and that is what I have read is a good timeline. Glad to hear this baby is doing better then the last.
