I love my country but I'm scared to death of its government
Ya believe what you read cause it's all that we give ya
Cause all of history is written by winners
I'm engaged in a frenzy of mass self-destruction
I feed upon your famine to fuel my corruption
I'm wholeselling hatred and international incest
To carnivorous hyenas in a global theft fest
I've mastered the arts of death and foreign nations genocide
And those who turn on me commit national suicide

I'm the queen of the global dream
And I rule a declining nation
I sit and watch all the violent screams
From the throne of your desperation

If you haven't written your letters to the Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans & Wildlife and sent them to Tom Wolfe, USARK's lobbyist you are not doing what can be done. The three most effective ways to lobby congress against HR669 are as follows:

1. In person meetings with Subcommittee members.
2. Write real letters to Subcommittee members opposing HR669.
3. Phone calls to Subcommittee members.

If you are putting you efforts toward other directions right now you are not being as effective as you could be. Do what works. Do what has been recommended by experienced lobbyists and Congressional Staff. WRITE THE LETTERS. Time is running out.

If you've written your letters watch Jeff Ronnes Video on How To Multiply Your Efforts. Have you done all this?

If I have about 300 letters to mail, do they all have to be in 300 separate envelopes or paper clipped together in 22 sets?

laurarfl Apr 16, 2009 12:48 PM

got my answer...just clip them in 22 sets addressed to each representative, in case anyone else is wondering.

I was confused since I have a seen a number of videos on the matter.

Maybe.. find a place of young potential
contemplate on how to plant a small seed of inspiration
If it doesn´t shoot, let it be but if it shoots, plant seedling in mix of reason and science and soak substrate lightly with tender feelings
Show passion to see it shoot roots and give it a few years to fully develop and shed it´s leafs a few times
Make sure it feeds well on a rich diet of different understanding so it can develop a strong stem of moral value covered with a healthy layer of smooth or rugged bark. This will give it good resistence to the storms of life.
In forests of inspiration live creeps and beasts of different taste and proportions. bees gather honey, ants clean the substrate and moral beats like Mr. Wolfe, jeffb and Mr. Meyers protect the forest against animal rights loggers.
have faith that the moral beasts will protect the forest of herpetoculturists from moral loggers and help them out in this moment of need but as the dust settles.. plant more seeds.
Bigger forest can support bigger population of moral beasts who can protect you from the tyrant loggers of your right to share your vivarium with friends of other species.

best wishes

One thing that our reviews have found is that very few herp societies have issued a position statement as an organization
regarding H.R. 669 yet. It is important that each official herp club and society issue a formal statement regarding the proposal, and that statement be sent to the societies members, published to it's web site, and sent to the committee members as well. If your herp society has not issued a position statement yet, jab them with a stick until they do, and then post it here so that everyone can use them as examples.

We have been very very active here both publicly and privately behind the scenes to bring a number of HR669 projects to fruition
within the limited time frame given. Additionally we have been working directly with Marshall Meyers at PIJAC as well as Ralph Davis and Jeff Ronne at USARK, as well as providing consulting to a number of individuals, businesses, pet and other organizations regarding 669. Bear in mind that our pet communities serve pet owners of every species at risk and we have been providing these services to owners, businesses, and organizations in the bird, aquaria, pond, and mammal areas as well as reptiles.

Thanks Jeff and OnlineHobbyist for all your hard work. Thanks also to USARK and PIJAC and their board members for their hard work. Thanks to all who have been writing letters. And keep writing your letters. Write one for your mom, your sister, your cousin and anyone who supports your business and hobby. We need to start kicking ass and taking names.

We have been busy writing our letters and exhorting our members to write, but didn't think about a position statement from our herp society! And we just had our business meeting last night - darn! We even talked about getting people to write letters! Maybe we can still talk about it via email.

Excellent, the effort you and others have put forth are monumental. This is the first time that I remember our community acting in this manner and galvanizing with a strong voice. this is also a learning curve of sorts where allot of people now have an idea of how this legal process works in order for us to be effective to speak up and against laws that we do not approve of. You and others have put in far more time and effort than we are aware of.

To my knowledge Connecticut for example does not have a Herp Society. I could be wrong about that and I hope that is the case. Working on the state level is very important.
