Calcium Substrates?

lysergia May 24, 2003 05:41 PM

Are calcium fortified substrates good for chameleons? I was thinking about putting some in my potted plants to keep my cham from eating dirt. Some of it even glows in the dark. Is it safe?

As noted several times a substrate is not recommended for any cham's but pygmies. What the heck makes it glow in the dark? might be cool - but safe?

calcium fortified substrates would be sand and if the chameleon eats to much of it to eat it or to get to the dirt it will cause an impaction. If you are trying to prevent your chameleon from eating the dirt, place some screen over the dirt or or go to my website under chameleon care click on non-toxic plant list and on the page there will be a link showing you how I cover my post!

Hope this helps!
