Bothrochilus breeding season

jonasgn Apr 15, 2009 03:34 PM

Hello all
Does any of you know when it`s breeding season for ringed pythons?
In the wild and/or in captivity.

I´m thinking of getting a mature pair, but is it too late to try breeding them this year?

Thanks a lot

Jonas

Jonas, you could always try breeding them! It normally would depend on where and at what temps they have been kept at prior to you receiving them and where you are in the country compared to where they have been. Also are you planning to cool them once you receive them? So your answer is, it depends. My adults have just gone through their ovulation cycles (late this year) but people in the north may have already received eggs. Where are you getting them from and where are you located? Are they healthy and ready to breed? You should try and find out what temps they have been kept at if you want to try this year. Good luck either way. Tom Keogan

Hey Tom
Thanks a lot.
I´m located in Denmark and here are about 50 degrees farenheit on averedge.
I will find out what temps they have been kept at resently.
I get the pair from two different places and they are both around 5 feet

A quick question Tom:
Would you cool them if they have not been cooled already?

Thanks

Jonas
