What is a "holdback" in reference2snakes

I always read, "this snake is a holdback." What exactly does this mean? good thing? bad thing? More valued?

Holdback is just what it sounds like. Something really nice from the clutch that is held back from sale and the breeders raise up for breeding purposes.
