question on breeding

ryned04 Apr 17, 2009 01:03 AM

hey guys, my name is ryne and i actually only have ball pythons but im really starting to like bloods. I was wondering if crossbreeding of the different localities is common and if it's considered a form of hybridization.

I thought u meant bred to ball pythons.

Locality crosses of the same species of snakes is not hybridization

crosses between the three different species of bloods and short-tails, (curtus, breitensteini, brongersmai). If so, then this is hybridization. Additionally, all three species are geographically separated and naturally occurring hybrids are unknown to my knowledge.

thanks for the input. I wasn't sure if people were crossbreeding localities or not, but i thought maybe it wasn't much different than crossbreeding reticulated python localities. (i.e. jampea, superdwarf, etc.)
