HR669 - Subcommittee Members

ArtInScales Apr 17, 2009 03:24 PM

I finally have an appointment with Congressman Doug Lamborn's staff member Dan Nordberg. I am not entirely shocked, but concerned that he didn't even know he was on the subcommittee.

I think it might be a good idea when we have our phone campaign, that we make sure that these representatives are aware that they are on the subcommittee.

Thank you to everyone for standing up for our rights.

Thank you, Michelle for taking the time to have a face-to-face meeting with these people. You will be effectively speaking for the entire "exotic" pet* trade.

Of all of the things we can do, I think the order of effectiveness goes something like this:
Sending emails
Signing Petitions
Sending Handwritten or typed letters
Phone Calls
Face-to-face meetings

So, thank you very much, Michelle. You know what you need to do and what you need to say and we all support you 100%. Stick to the facts and just remember to take a deep breath or two beforehand.

*I hate the term "exotic" for our animals... the term should be limited to bears, tigers, lions, and the like -things that require massive caging and/or could actually have an impact on a person's neighbors... whereas what we do (the responsible majority of us) should simply be referred to as "non-traditional pets" it takes a lot of the stigma off of us.
