wierd litter

JPCONS Apr 17, 2009 07:17 PM

Well here we go again with the strange and unexpected. I bred my stripe female (juliet) to my striped male (romeo). They were both suposed to be normals but??

And here is the suprise

One albino with 3/4 body stripe. There are at least 30plus live healthy babies and 2 slugs. The wierd thing is only one albino out of 30 babies?? The good thing is I got a awsome albino.

And this is mom doing very well.

If you didn't get that albino you would not know they are het for albino. It also goes to show that sometimes the odds are just that odds. MANY people would have questioned that breeding if they where sold to you as het for albino and you got 29 babies and no albinos. That one albino just goes to show sometimes odds are just that plain old odds. Plus you get to keep the albino and perhaps breed it back to one of the parents and get more striped albinos. Healthy babies, mom's doing good. IT'S ALL GOOD AND DON'T GET BETTER THEN THAT!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!

Yes it is. she is doing very well and was a good girl. She got her bath and let me move her with no attitude. I will move her back to her original cage sunday and give her a small meal.

When you say Stripe line you are referring to the "Kahl Stripe Line " ?
Very strange odds... if they were het Albino bad odds.
If they really truly were not het Albino ( As we know it)
unusual spontaneous mutation maybe.
The stripe Line thing sure did work out.
Beautiful bunch of babies congrats !

Yeah they are kahl line. I was thinking the same thing. Is this how the first albino started??
Now i need to decide weather to put albinos to them next time I breed or do the same breeding. Decisions desisions??

The first Albino Boas in our country came from imported Albino Boas.
How it happened/happens in the wild is spontaneous mutatioon to begin with.
Although generations of Albino Hets probably exist in certain
areas/regions of South America would be my guess.
I personally think Boa family members don't all travel very far
away from each other.
Possibly inter breeding more often than we believe they do.

First, congrats on the litter! They look awesome! (mom is pretty hot too). That albino sure is a sweet surprise, too bad the odds weren't more in your favor.

Back in '03 I sold an entire litter of poss het albinos to a pet store, I bet we see more and more of these surprise albinos as time goes by.

I would love to see some more pics of this one:

Love that lateral striping by the tail!

Congrats again!
