Help identify.....

I was lucky enough to save these 2 guys but I dont know
what type of tortoise they are or what their diet would be
if diff from each other. If you know what type they are could you let me know so I can make sure im properly taking care of them. Thanks

They are both Russian tortoises, Testudo horsfieldii

They look like Russians (A. horsefieldi) to me. They have an enormous range in Eurasia, and not surprisingly, a lot of variation in morphology, the 2nd photo is a very dark specimen. Some good info. sheets on them in the Sand Diego Turtle & Tortoise Society website. Also A. Highfield. There are probably 3 different subspecies imported. They will benefit from lots of natural Sun, and a varied diet with lots of wild spring greens etc. Good luck, I hope you give them a happy second chance. Vic H.
