Congrats with your continued success. Is that an Albino to het breeding? How many total in that clutch? What are your percentages of laid eggs to hatched eggs? What is your egg to egg time?(generational)

Thanks for the positive comments!!!

I have made a total now of three.....like I could keep that a secret!!! I would like to thank the little people - Johhny "The Earwig", Mike " The Stink" and Nancy "Nutless"... considering they are all shorter than me!

Nah.

The Albinos are very, very cool. They are 100% perfect and do not seem to have any noticeable sensitivities to bright light including UV. My adult albinos have never had issues with the UV. I had a few people wonder if these guys are anything like albino tegus and such. No, they act just a normal looking water in every way that I can tell. My first hatchling is now 5 months and three days, she is HUGE! Super friendly, smart and outgoing. She will ride around on you being very inquisitive and absolutely enjoying human interaction. If there is anyone out there that does not think you can raise a remarkable SUPER TAME water monitor then you have never tried or your doing something wrong. These animals can easily be as tame as a bearded dragon despite their larger growing size. I personally think they are the ideal "dinosaur" to keep if you have the room!

They take about 6 months to hatch at 88F. Captive born water monitors are an absolutely different beast than most imports. They can be extremely gentle and want to interact with their pet keepers. If you are wondering why I am repeating myself some people seem to think that these animals can not be trusted and are "dangerous". Well, a fork is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing with it! They can be AMAZINGLY TAME to the point that they are just too lazy to be ill tempered.

I use Hatchrite exclusively to hatch these guys since it works great for us. GOOD stuff!

So far these albinos have been hatched from breeding het to het. My visible albino males are HUGE. As in my original sire is around 75 lbs. Its a matter of physics, a giant 75 lumbering ogre meets a young pretty little 6lb female. SHould he try to breed with her or maybe should he just eat her? The males can be very rough with the ladies so it has not "worked out". My second male has now also become rather large and seems to take little notice of small girls in his cage. So, for now I have to accept limited production until I get a smaller albino male hatched out and raised up.

Hopefully this answers some questions - Kevin
