WAY past due

BoaGal Apr 19, 2009 09:11 AM

Ok, so my "gravid" female was due almost four weeks ago! She doesn't look huge, but I'm still pretty sure she's prego. She still hugs the heat and coils to conserve heat. So now what? Do I just keep waiting or go back to feeding her? I put some rags in her cage so she can hide her babies. She was very interested in them the first couple of days, burying herself in them. But now she doesn't care about them anymore and hugs the heat in the open.

I live in Indiana and we had that ice storm near Christmas. The power went off and the temperature inside was down to the 50s for a few hours. Does that have anything to do with it?

AH, I can't stand it lol. I will try to post pics of her later.

"Due dates" are us humans trying to put a clock on nature. These snakes do not always follow the book. My last litter was either overdue over a month or over a month early according to shed dates. Last year the same female was right on time (ish)

All you can do is wait. If you really think she is graviud, skipping a meal near end of term is no big deal at all. Eating to close to parturition can cause premature birth.

I'm seeing baby snakes in your future. Screw the dates.. you'll have a surprise waiting for you one day in the future... certainly before Sept
