Does anyone know what would come from breeding a Striped Amel to a Butter Motley? I know that the Butter gene is part Amel but thats as far as ive gotten, i wont be breeding them till next year.

Does anyone know what would come from breeding a Striped Amel to a Butter Motley? I know that the Butter gene is part Amel but thats as far as ive gotten, i wont be breeding them till next year.

As far as color, all would be amel, het for carmel.
As far as pattern, you'd get a range of babies that wouldn't necessarily fall clearly into a "striped" or "motley" category.
(e.g. An elongated motley pattern that is almost striped, except for a few "cross over" bars.)
It appears that there is an inter-relationship with "striped" and "motley" patterns and they may be alleles of the same gene -
just different ways of expressing it.

1/1, Striped Motley, Amelanistic, Het for Caramel
That's what you're probably going to see. Keep in mind though that it is common for corns to have traits hidden away in their genotypes and you may have more than you know. With corns, always expect surprises.
