how to tell when ready for Fuzzys?

yankeeslover Apr 20, 2009 10:40 PM

how can one tell if my Corn is ready to eat a fuzzy? so far, I have been feeding 2 pinkys at a time every 5 days...tonight was his third feeding taking 2 pinkys.. when do I know its safe to try a fuzzy? and if so, how many fuzzys? as you can see from my pics before, he is still kind of smallish(12.5 inches), I dont want to rush it, nor hurt him.. Im gonna actually wonder the same for my Desert King, as he is eating two pinkys also(he is a tad larger then my corn, but not by much, both are still babys)..thank you, Pete

Before to switching to fuzzies, I'd wait until the thickest part of the snake is about the same width as a fuzzy (see photo below). Once switched, I'd feed it one fuzzy per feeding until it gets to a size where it may be able to take two. I'd say that would be around 18-20 inches.

with my blizzard corn i bought way too many pinkies, by the time i ran out of pinks she was eating six in a sitting, just keep feeding them pinks until you run out and when it comes time to reorder if they are eating 2-4 pinks in a sitting and it doesnt leave them with a big bulge or bulging for more than a couple days than in my opinion they should be able to handle a fuzzy. just check it for size first.
