Help me indentify this guy (see pic)

Lovin2act Apr 21, 2009 02:00 PM

So I have had this guy for a tad over a year and a half. Got him from a friend who had it for several years since it was a little tyke. He said he got it from a pet store by us but could no longer keep him due to his wife haha! Anyhow, I have it narrowed down to a Pacific or a San Diego...but am not sure which. Or maybe I am really bad and its neither! Just was wondering if anyone in here who really knows their gopher subspecies could tell the difference?

I would say its a San Diego ( annectans).
Nice dark example no matter what it is.

Looks like a San Diego to me, too...

That's definitely a San Diego Gophersnake (P.c. annectens). I know the pic is small, but the SD in the pic seems to have a similar checkerboard pattern.
