Leave it alone! If the eggs are good around them, they'll be fine!

thank you for your advise. you are the second one to tell me that. has that happened to you before? is it because i did something wrong? i am so sad!

BuzzardBall Apr 22, 2009 06:10 AM

Yes, that's happened to me before! Almost every year! You did nothing wrong! That's nature! Leave it alone! If you "muck" w/it, as someone else mentioned, you run the risk of damaging a "good" egg! Then how would you feel? That eggs a goner, leave it go!

ok, i am glad it is not something i did! i will leave it alone then! thanks for your help.

Eggs occasionally go bad in a clutch. As long as the surrounding eggs are healthy, the rotten one will not harm them. If you try to remove the bad one, you run the risk of damaging the healthy eggs. I had a clutch of 5 eggs last year that had one go bad about three weeks in. It smelled awful, but I left it attatched and four healthy babies hatched out right on time.

today is day 16 and it started looking bad a couple of days ago. i was told by someone else, not on here, but a good friend that referend me to the site, that it should be removed so it does not cause the others to mold or rot to. how long have you been dealing with this kinda thing? i do not mean to discredit anyone,or your advise, i just need to be asking and knowing things. thanks for your help

This year is my second year breeding ball pythons. If not for the advice of others far more experienced in the matter, I would have tried to remove that moldy egg last year-and I'm glad I didn't. This site has some great advice on python breeding, from start to finish.
