A Little Off Topic, Just a Little

fgs Apr 21, 2009 06:37 PM

It was 94 degree yesterday in San Jose California so I thought I'd hit the road to see what I could find. I went to my favorite road and found a couple of snakes.
The first Photo is of a Coastal California Kingsnake and the second photo is of a Pacific Gopher Snake.
You'ed think I'd be satisfied with my collection of boas and ball pythons, but the truth is that I just can't get enough.

Brian, I think most of us that are passionate about the hobby grew up catching frogs and bugs. The idea of keeping them always seemed amazing! I got my first Ball Python at 13 by catching a yellow ratsnake! I kept the yellow ratsnake which was mean as all heck, it bit me and hissed and my mom didn't really like it at all. She told me that If I would let that one go she would take me to the pet store and I could get a domesticated snake! I got my first ball python "Peanut" and that sealed it for me. Always fun to get out into nature and see how fruitful she really is!

I addicted too exclamation points!!!HAHAHA

A nice Het Albino!

You must have grown up in the sunshine state as well (yellow rat) my parents had to let me get my first snake at 11 just so they would Know where the snake was, as I smuggled many into the house and "stored" them in less than appropriate places..LOL.

very cool Brian!

I've only found a pacific gopher on my hunts but I haven't been herping in over 5 years (the shame!). Oh, and a couple ringnecks or racers, they are so quick it's hard to tell. I usually go to the stevens creek park/prospect rd area. I'd love to find a calking one of these days! I really gotta get back out there!
Thanks for sharing! (nice photos as well)
-April (it's too hot!)
