My beardie is getting big!!

CDP75 Apr 21, 2009 08:17 PM

I'm happy to say that Sydney's biting has stopped. He still doesn't care for being picked up but once I've got him, he's fine. He likes to have his head rubbed

I also weighed him today and holy cow!! 244 grams and he's 19 weeks old. I wish I could get a pic to show his true colors but nope camera just waon't do it His front legs are bright orange and the back legs are orangish. He's got orange on the sides and top of his head with a almost lime greenish color on his head. He's very pretty, we think

Very nice as he gets older you will see him relax more when picking him up. Very nice!

Hey thanks Is his weight gain good? A friend of mine has one the same age and got the same day as me but his is tiny!!! He's not feeding it correctly. Crickets and romaine only. Don't think he's even dusting the crickets. It's sad!! Been trying to talk him into giving it to me.
Sydney gets a large variety and eats everything. I swear it looks like the licks the bowl clean....hahahah

Yeah young beardies should gain weight and grow very fast. If they are not doing that you are doing something wrong. Tell your friend romaine is worthless and to get a collard green if he is only going to do one kind of veggie sorce. Ofcourse the best action is to have a high mix salad for your beardie and lots of crickets. You are doing great though and you should get your friend to start doing what your doing because he can see that it works.

hey what was you secret in getting your beardy to let you handle him...mine is 8 months, however though i have not had him for a full week yet.

Just give him time. Let him settle in to his new home and then short handles if he doesn't seem to enjoy them. Make sure you support his body like on your chest or something.

He was easily to handle when I 1st got him but then got bitey. I've always hand fed him treats but now he gets everything but salad hand fed to him. Has helped alot plus no more crickets climbing up in his rock.

Like faygo says, give it time too

Oh, I've been trying like mad to get him to change.
