hows my leo looking

dagangsta Sep 12, 2003 05:00 PM

hey, before you said taht my leo looked pretty stressed and that it isn't ok to have him in the same tank as the house gecko, so yea, i got another 10 gal and put the house gecko in there, and i went out and bought a real heat lamp instead of just a normal 60 watt bulb for the leo his colors are getting a lot lighter, btw, how does everyone take pictures of there leos, almost all of my pictures turn out waaay to light, yea, so, umm, but his tail is still pretty thin anything i can do for that?

heres a pic of him as of 9-12-03

A few things-

Glad you got him his own enclosure, hopefully the house gecko did not infect him with any parasites.

Leos do best with belly heat, it helps them digest their food, so a UTH with a thermostat would probably help him gain weight.

He may have worms or some other infection that is making him thin, a trip to the vet and a fecal would be able to pick that up, and you could get it treated. What do his stool look like?

Make sure the temps are correct, about 90° on the warm side and 78-80 on the cool side. Make sure he has adequate hiding places, and a moist hide to help him shed. Provide a dish of carnivorous reptile calcium (phosphorus-free).

Colors are brighter. This is good. She is still on thin side, watch her stools- what do they look like? Are they solid with n stain on the pa-pertoweling, or does a brown stain appear, are the stools watery or half-formed? If the stools are solid just keep feeding her, have mealies available 24 hours a day all she can eat, and try to get an undertank heater for het so she can digest her food properly. Check those temps. And good luck!
