A loner no longer...

CrimsonKing Apr 22, 2009 06:30 PM

...This guy has been a loner since I lost his mate last year.

So...I went shopping for a suitable female and came across this nice one.

they have been together for a few days now and have bred at least once that I know of.

and well...of course, there were two other pairs I just couldn't live without that included this male, another albino male, and two normal females...

(his bands are more of a lime green than is portrayed in the pic).

Do others here who keep and breed L.ruthveni also find that they get much better results when they breed a het/albino to an albino rather than albino X albino?
For some reason this species and its line just seem to work out better when this is done...in my experience anyway..

Congratulations Mark!
I'm not into Morphs but that bottom pic is striking! As usual your pics are fantastic.
Thanks for sharing.
Bob.

Thanks Bob. In honesty, I'll probably pare down the 3.3 to 1.2 shortly...deciding which to keep is the hard part.

Mark,

Been there. I sympathize. My vote as an outsider not really into morphs is definitely that lime green one on the bottom of the page! Good luck with whatever you decide.
Bob.

No. Everything here is done the same basically depending on the weather, but generally slowed/cooled from Thanksgiving until Valentine's Day. It's all about me, ya know.
Cooler and longer than normal winter and just plain different this year, weather-wise.
A few friends that I've talked to, (Lee Abbott, Tim Thomas, & Robert Cox, for example) working with L.ruthveni also report less than ideal results when breeding albino to albino. More infertility than with a het X albino.
We're all FL guys though.

Great looking animals Mark.. I have always wanted to pick some up, but never have..

I remember years ago when these first come to the market people were saying that breeding het/albino was beter, but i have friends that have bred albino/albino with good results.

Good luck with them!
