artificial insemination

I was just reading the article in the back of a morph guide that I will leave nameless so this message will not be deleted.
Did anyone else read this? I find it very interesting. I would of liked them to elaborate on how the semen can be removed from the male. They just mention "stripping".

How many people would use this method of breeding snakes, if it was not too costly?

Opinions?

I wouldn't spend money for it. I think that I would stick to the old fashion tried and true method.

If you were a high volume breeder and you could freeze sperm for any-time use it could definitely be beneficial (if cheap enough).
Just think of the number of females you could inseminate. You wouldn't have to worry about the male replenishing his resourses or how many females he could handle this season.
Then you take it to the next step.
Selling semen.
I have a female that I would like to breed, I don't have room for the particular male I want, or time to raise it, I check the internet and order the morph I need.
It could prove quite interesting.
Me personally, I doubt I would ever go that direction.
I enjoy the whole aspect of raisng and breeding my snakes.
It can get tedius at times but it is all worth it when you start getting those hook-ups and come to realize that you are doing at least a few things right anyway.

I am really surprised that there was not more thoughts on the subject. I thought for sure this would get a few of the "big" breeders talking, or at least be a longer thread.
I find it all very interesting.

Jimmy- I was thinking the same. It'd be nice to just be able to get the sperm of a male that you didn't want to wait 3 years to raise or had no room in your collection for. The possibilities are very cool IMHO.
