is this egg fertile? please help.

i'vehad 2 infertile clutches so far and this clutch was layed on 5-6-03 and it has a red vein down it's side. i tried candel lighting it but i'm not sure, does the red vein down the whole side of the egg mean its fertile??? please responde. and thanx in advance!!!!

Yeah usually red is a good sign on the inside of an egg. You might want to mark the top of the egg down the center with a sharpie marker or something so that you know where top dead center is. Another thing is sometimes you can see an oval shaped cluster of red or pinkish inside a egg and this is also a good indication you have a fertile egg. They make a small little flashlight I think its from Maxlite or brinkman, about two inches long or so that fits on a key chain. These little bright lights make excellent egg candelers. Hope this helps and hope you have some hatchlings on the way.
