I just sat through the hearing via webcast. I am uncertain how to interpret it.. I did not her anything herps other then there is no federal law stating you can not possess the deadliest snake.
The main item was aquaticulture. The poor fish Tilipia was the main punching bag... I am unhappy with the whole hearing.
Millions of dollars are made in Isreal for exporting KOI fish. $7 to $8 billion for the import of ornamental fish to our country.
Alot was said about the snakehead, apple snails, and plants..
$45 billion a year in the pet industry, major part is dog and cats, but nothing was done to reasearch any of the other pets, wheter they were from here or not...
I am still gonna fight....

Keep in mind that this is the beginning of the process to protect our rights. This is going to get more involved on both sides as things move forward. We gave a punch for our side but now we need a plan of action, a monumental detailed tidal wave of facts and data. Unfortunately we must play by their rules and not allow them to push us aside while we do it.

We are ALL going to have to get "INVOLVED" if we want to win this. It can be done but rolling up our sleeves and exerting effort is mandatory.

I also watched the hearing and I am very pleased. The most important issue is that they took notice of us and all the work we have done so far. That is a very powerful thing. Today by no means is the ending this is only the beginning! We as a community must get organized and pre pair for the next steps! I feel after watching that they do want our input and our ideas. I also feel that they realize that they came at this with a sword not a scalpel.

What to do now is Join PIJAC AND USARK
We cannot allow the momentum we have to die off.

OMGGODESS!!! Yes I too totally believe that it was great that they heard us!! Maybe now WE as a team can enlist many more who are unaware to step up. I realized many ppl were not aware of this... I will keep working and doing my share....
49,000 plus letters were not enough, we have to double that, triple that......

Dogs have cats are more of a threat to the wildlife of this continent than any of our pets. They've killed more of the native wildlife too...Additionally, there have been far more deaths to people as a result of dogs, than deaths by reptiles, both exotic and native.
