from my adult pair this next season. Have you had any success breeding and do you follow the Chiras (sp?) routine of severe drops into the 50 degree temp's in the winter? I have read and re-read his article so many times and it makes sense but it is so scary to take such awesome animals and risk losing them by making any mistakes. Hope you can shed any insight on your routines and ANY breeding info. would be great. Thanks for the nice shots. Frank Kincade.
Frank, words can't describe that diamond. You know how much I love that snake...
Thanks for the compliment. Diamonds truly are an amazing species. From blushing when they eat to their unusual husbandry, they really are unique. I cooled mine by offering a hot spot of 86f for 5 hours every day, otherwise the temp was 50-60. I got fertile eggs and all my animals were in perfect health. However a few eggs were infertile and i did lose quite a few during incubation. However this was the first year they were ever cooled( i purchased them as subs) and i am hoping things will only improve. In talking with cyprus creek he cooled 50-60 no heat. 23 perfect eggs 23 perfect hatchlings. Not sure what the answer is, there may be more than 1. Take care and thanks again.
