V.jobiensis are smaller and pack much less of a bite than V.doreanus. Blue tails have teeth almost like a croc monitor. Both are gorgeous monitors. If you have the room and are prepared to avoid bites then it is more about personal preference than anything else.

how skittish would you say blue tails are and what would you say
the snout to vent lenth of a peach throat and a blue tail is?

They both can be a bit nervous as WC animals. It really depends on the animal. I would bank on them both being flighty just to be prepared. I am not sure on SVL but male doreanus can get 5' while male peachies are more like 3.5.

Cheers,

Steve

Hello,
I used to see some pretty big peachthroats(imports) back in the day. They were big like the bluetails(called kalabecks then)... Croc monitors were larger than both species and I have had them since the early 90's and have never had a bite incident with them. Handling, hand feeding and intruding can stimulate bites of which the third is the hardest to predict. Best to you- Mike
