Had this guy out in the sun the other day and managed to get a cool picture out of him. What do you think?

Oh, and my dog felt left out. Here's Rufus, he's an American Dingo!

Thanks! It's pretty much the same thing as an Australian Dingo. American Dingos still run wild in South Carolina and Georgia. There are only a few breeders in the US and my boss happens to be one of them. He's a great dog, but he doesn't like strangers too much. They're also called Carolina Dogs.

Okay now I follow with the name Carolina dog, they are said to be crossed with the red wolf and or the coyote correct?

Not actually related to the Austrailian dingo?

Thanks for the info.

From what I understand, they are very similar to the Australian Dingo. This is just what I found from a few websites:
"Preliminary mitochondrial DNA testing performed by the University of South Carolina's College of Science and Mathematics shows a possible strong genetic link between Carolina Dogs and other primitive breeds like the Australian Dingo"
"Brisbin noted that these dogs were almost identical in looks to the Dingo. The Carolina Dog could almost pass for a larger size Dingo."
"Called the 'Carolina Dog,' these animals most closely resemble the Dingo of Australia, which may indeed be among their closest living relatives"

I also found this to support your wolf-cross:
"When the first primitive humans crossed the Bering landbridge into North America from Asia, they were accompanied by a primitive form of dogs that resulted from the domestication of southwest Asian wolves...These small, nondescript dogs...called the 'Carolina Dog'"

Not sure if you wanted that much info, but I had fun looking it up, lol.

LOL What can I say? I appreciate nice grass. It takes alot of hardwork and money which is why I have none. I have learned it is cheaper to cultivate weeds! I apparently have quite the green thumb because I always have plenty.

I'm glad you appreciate the grass, lol. My boyfriend takes care of his lawn and I get to use it for pictures... Sounds like a good trade to me right?

VERY cool picture
My neighbor had an american dingo. He would run up to my porch and would come inside LOL.. probably because I gave him cookies whenever he would visit.

BoaGal Apr 27, 2009 06:15 PM

That's cool, you don't see too many American Dingos around. I'm trying to work with Rufus, but his mom was aggressive to strangers and now he's acting like her...

Thanks for the positive feedback on the picture too!
