I did a comparison shot to show the difference. A normal one on the left and this strange colored one on the right.
A friend of mine just came back from Kansas with this ringneck.
Opinions....
Hypo?
Thanks

COOL find!
I'd have to think- hypo, but I'm not familiar with the ringnecks from the area. I'm sure there is some natural variation in color within each area, but it does seem to have a great reduction in black pigment.
Maybe a worthwhile breeding project, just to find out.
I'm no expert, far from, but I'd have to say it does look hypo. Very cool.

In the 4 years I've viewed FHF and not only the CA posts, I've never seen one posted like that. There have been a few albino's and even a couple that had a faint orange stripe down their backs. There's even been Anerythristics posted and one that was described as hypo that was light grey but not as light as this, maybe it was mis identified. This one looks very hypo. And its not hard to imagine it is because from what I've heard, you see hundreds of Ring necks down there every day. A morph is likely to show up for you sooner or later. There have been more albino Ring necks posted than any other species. I'd say its hypo or some type of hypo.

Man, prairie ringnecks have got to have the biggest variety of morphs, it's a shame that even as adults they're so damn small. I would call it hypo... But the past 4 or 5 I've seen that looked "hypo" didn't really look much like that one.
Must be because that ones a baby?
Good stuff though.
