Liquid Vitamins

Pine_Snake_Piney Apr 27, 2009 03:46 AM

All,
I have been contemplating injecting liquid vitamins into the pre-killed rodents that I feed to my snakes. Has anyone here done this? If so, what types of vitamins have you used/suggest using?? Where do I find them???
I ask because I was trying to find the old Reptisol vitamins from Tetra/Terrafauna (the one with the dropper sticking out of the top) and have had no luck at all. I guess they have discontinued those, which is a shame.
Thanks in advance for your time.

I don't know how much help I'll be but I'll try. Over the years I have seen this subject pop up somewhat regularly. Generally the consensus has been that it is an unnecessary procedure. I have read and know of some breeders that may supplement some calcium for their females during egg laying season but that is about all. I personally haven't ever used vitamin supplements. I don't know what you would consider a proper regimented dosage or how you would go about determining what a particular species would use or need. Generally folks don't consider vitamins in a bad way but I'm sure too many or much of something could be as detrimental if not more so than not enough. Like I said, I don't know if I've helped or not, but those are my observations over the last 18-20 years or so. Best of luck to you and take care.

Jeremy
