LOOSE CORAL

dirty_jarvis Apr 27, 2009 09:58 AM

This is a little embarrasing , but my texas coral got loose yesterday, and after demoliting my house, I have not had anyluck in finding it.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on traps that I could use.

ANY input would be helpful

Not sure if this would work or not but I found it by googling snake trap.

http://www.snakeguard.com/

Maybe put it in a warm spot in the basement and possibly use dead rodents or snakes (or whatever you normally feed it) to make scent trails leading to the box and leave the dead prey item inside it. Might work the only thing I would be cautious of is the glue in the trap it might harm your snake.

sticky mouse traps work but most likely kill the snake.I would kill all my snakes to save any child.I would just keep looking these type of things can get way out of hand now you have let the cat out of the bag it must be put back in at any cost.Get a better cage for that snake when you find it.

Distribute flour evenly over the floor.
Wait until the next morning and track it.
Worked well for me back in the 70's! LOL!

I am skeptical of the sticky pads, I don't want to oharm him an any way.
I don't have any kids, Thank God.

The flour is a good idea except I have white carpet, but I will still try it

Thank you guys

The sticky glue traps can be safely used. Just use vegetable oil to nutralize the glue to remove the snake without difficulty.

Try leaving food out for him then watch it. If you have empty cans or tin foil/aluminum foil you can stack or pile it in places that you think he might travel and when he hits it it'll make noise and you run over and snatch him. Try looking at night.
Try leaving some water out for him and he may come and get some.

Hope that helps some. Also the flour does work well on hard floors.

No luck, I am assuming he escaped.
With that said, I am leaving the traps out, until I am absolutly convinced he is gone.

Thanks Everyone who responded

Leave the sticky traps in every dark place in your house. Take apart your apliances one by one. Check every nook and cranny. I'd bet money he is still in the house, and will probably stay there.

Let a very humgry kingsnake go.Turn the heat up look at night, all night.Play heavy base music and move and disrupt everything it might hide in.Get several people, follow the wall and go inward.Put some damp moss in each corner.Turn over couch/chairs.You can find it if you stay at it a section at a time.Block space under doors after each room search. At least its basicly a ground dweller.Let us know. Mongoose anyone? Vic

Randle,How you been buddy.long time! Thanks about the tortoise coment,I think.Their doing fantastic.I kept snakes first including venomous.I had a ton of them! You can wait untill they show up or turn the place upside down untill you find it!I keep forgetting to add the LOL but it all works.I had a loose Boa push two shelfs of snake cages on the floor once.(back when everything was 10 gal. fish tanks, broken glass and EDB's)It was a snake collecting party all night at my house. But it was the time my Mex.redleg Tarantula findly showed up on my Grandfathers face while he was sleeping with his mouth wide open that scarred me! Vic

Doing Great Vic!
Last time I was at your place,(with, seems like a kajillion emys wandering around) you had the most spectacular eastern box turtle I have ever laid eyes on! Remember the one I'm talking about? I wanted that turtle so bad, but knew you wouldn't part with it. LOL! I was up there with Wayne at that time.(right before the expo).
Hope your doing well!
