OT - back yard herping.

rainbowsrus Apr 27, 2009 12:22 PM

LOL, have this colony of California Lungless Salamanders in my back yard. I find them all the time in the fall/winter/spring umderneath objects (I leave small planks in the back yard for them) In the summer as the backyard dries out, they retreat to moist areas, probably underground. Only found one today....

Thanks,

Cool 'mander. I've found those in the foothills and coast range.
Here's my entry for the backyard herping thread:

This is a Sharp-tailed snake and they are commonly found in the spring in leaf litter and under boards and stuff (slug and worm eaters). By summer they retreat to cooler, wetter areas. Cool little snakes. I also have Southern Alligator lizards in my yard as well.
Cool thread, hopefully others will share their backyard adventures also (at least the herp variety).

Those are cool. I find them every spring herping here in Chatsworth.
