My little helper and some fresh shed pic

Joel_Thomas Apr 28, 2009 05:46 PM

My basement is carpeted in the ugliest 70's carpet, I hate carpet.... it is hard to vacuum aspen and is generally gross.

I pulled most of it out but couldn't disturb some cages right now so that will be done this summer, I feel better knowing that I can properly disinfect the floors.

Here is my favorite person in the world...always working with me in the dungeon.
Excuse the clutter but I had to move stuff around for this task.

fresh shed and the colors are pretty close.

Love the glasses, head gear and the boots! Looks like she is ready for any cleanup you can throw at her.

Nice Jekyll Island shirt too.. I am on St. Simons Island, right next door to Jekyll!

Joel,

The boat is going great. So far we have been to the reefs off St. Simons Island and this weekend we will hit Jekyll beach for Triple Tails. I have never fished for Triple Tails but they say it is as fun as anything and it is Sight fishing as you can actually see them on the surface and then cast to them.

The down side of the boat is gas, oil, cleaning and putting in the water. That thing is HEAVY!

When are you coming back this way for a fishing trip?

I have a couple of boas that have ovulated and one pair that is still breeding so that will probably kill my summer travel, I am thinking early fall at this point.

Triple tail are fantastic fighters and some good eats too, I always had the best luck cathing them from under any kind of floating structure....have fun wish I were there.

Very cute pics of an adorable little future herper! now that's how you deligate the manual labor. hee!

There's no excuse for ugly 70's carpet, but at least it's not green.

Have a great day,

your daughter is so cute joel, snake is nice too, what are you going to do with the floors, ceramic tile would look nice, i had carpet on my basement floors and with all the dogs i put down some tile and it looks like as new as the day i put it down about 7 years ago and it is so much easier to keep clean.

What are your thoughts ....I think i am just going to seal the concrete when I can get the snakes out of the basement for a few days during the summer months.

Ceramic tile is certainly an option but not one that I want to invest in right now,

I figure I can seal it now and if at a later time tile it or re-carpet before I sell the house.

if it where me here's what i would do, if you do not want to investing the time and money into ceramic tile i would just paint it with an epoxy reinforced type paint, i used that in my laundry room and at least 5 dogs pass through there 4 times a day for the last 5 years and it seems to hold up very well, only problem is if you paint and down the road you decide to go ceramic tile you will have to strip off the paint, major pain in the a...s, i did a 19 x 15 room in my basement that had that industrial carpet with the black rubber backing glued to the cement floor, i had to pull the rug scrape off all the foam backing that was stuck to the floor and then use a paint stripper to remove what glue and backing that was left on the floor to get it to be clean concrete again so that the tiles would have something clean to adhere to, took me about a week to remove all the glue, major pain in the a...s, but worth it in the end as it looks like the day i installed it many years ago and thats with an average of 5 boxers on it 24-7 lol, i think i would just paint it as it will look nicer than plain concrete and if you ever decide to sell the house down the road you could throw on another fresh coat of paint or carpet over the paint.
