Pic of me holding a rock

Justin Stricklin Sep 12, 2003 08:11 PM

I believe this is my first time to post on this forum. i just am not all that much into iguanas, but i had to post this pic.
The story is I went on a cruise to cozumel and playadel carmen, mexiico. I was out snorkeling and I saw this run up the grass by all the lava rock. I did not see it before. I sort of reminded me of marine iguanas. This lizard is very dark and so was the rock (of cource). Keep in minnd this is by the ocean. I did not realize they got that close. but anyways I got out and caught it. Not thinking about this place I was at was a wildlife park sort of thing. it came to my mind after a short 5' mexican park ranger dude started walking towards me real fast. I got 3 pics of me holding it and it trying its hardest to bite me. This was my first big lizard to catch, and let it go. i was about 3 1/2' away. It does not look so because i'm so big myself. i am 6' 3" 250 lbs so it may look smaller than it realy was, and my aunt who took the pic was about 10 feet away. The worst thing about this pic is my ugly self. my aunts camera hasn't been working right since then. lol. This was the biggest highlight of my trip and will never forget it. Sorry for the improper grammer as I'm quite lazy about it. Just try your best to read it.

You were lucky. Igs have 116 teeth, and aren't afraid to use them.

Oh, I know the power in lizards. When I said I'm not inot them much I should have said i have monitors and have been bitten by them. i have been bitten by igs also. Monitors have serious jaw pressure and teeth if you'v never been bitten.
