I just happened to go back to your post a couple of weeks back and I believe the other posters are correct and your python is a childrens. Somehow it looked different to me today lol! Great snakes to work with!

Here's a photo of one of mine.

And one of my spotteds.

I'm looking into either getting a childrens or a spotted. And suggestions as far as temperament is concerned?

I have not worked with these guys other then my lone childrens python I just recently picked up. I think a few can be a touch nippy as hatchling, but for the most part grow into calm, tractable adults. My 08 female is a little defensive when you first get her out of the enclosure, but is calm once in hand. Like someone else has said, they have the big python look in a small package. Very underrated animals. Steve

Thanks Phil. I see you have one of each. How are your childrens & spotted as far as behavior, size, personality, etc.?
I also see you've been sneaking some boids in your collection. I'm guilty as well. In addition to these little Australian pythons,I've got an affinity for some of the various sand boas.

Steve,

I have a pair of each that are now in the young adult size range. All of mine, both childrens and spotteds are very easy going snakes, outside of feeding time. If there is no smell of rodents in the snake room they are completely laid back. I really like their feeding responses though. Seem to be calm natured snakes from my limited experience.

Yeah, I have been dabbling with a number of pythons and boa's and have been really enjoying it. Especially at cage cleaning time compared to my Pits lol!

Really like that Kenyan sand boa btw..I have been looking into getting some of those.

Phil
