how do these eggs look to you?

rachel4rent Apr 30, 2009 06:32 PM

22 carpet python eggs! She's around 4-5 and I don't know if this is her first clutch or not. They looked like this when I took them from her. Now they're in an incubator at 82-85 degrees and I just increased the humidity after taking this picture. Thoughts/Suggestions? Just laid on the 26th.

(they're my boyfriends snakes)

Rachel, those eggs look like they may still make it if they are fertile. You need to change the setup immediately though. You should place the eggs in a much larger container within the incubator with more air circulation, raise them up and don't put the glass lid so close to the eggs. ( I am assuming the glass with the water droplets on the left side of the pic is the lid?) The eggs sitting in those bowls will die once the water from the top/lid drips down and makes contact with the eggs. Also raise your temps up slowly from 82-85 to 86-88. There is way to much to explain in a post but read what you can and don't make sudden humidity or temp changes. Good luck with them! Tom

I agree with Tom. And are you really 4 rent?

Agreed again.

You need to keep the eggs humid but not wet. raise tem up off the substrate and cover them so they won't get dripped on. Put them in a bigger container (more thermal mass) so that the temp and humidity will stay more constant. And slowly make them warmer.

Yup. Already done guys. Thanks a bunch for your help! Lost 4 already but keeping my hopes up... along with that temperature. Hopefully the next pictures I'll be posting here are tiny babies!

Looking for a new pretty IJ adult girl at the next Hamburg show (or the following after that). Can't wait to see what they will have to offer!
