draybar Apr 30, 2009 06:47 PM

My snow het hypo layed 11 eggs today.
I bred her to a cinnamon (hypo emoryi/corn) male.
So, I should get some rootbeers het amel het anery het hypo and some cinnamons (hypos) het anery het amel

AND...my stripe creamsicle is laying as I type..whoo whoo

question...I plan to try to double clutch the stripe cream.
when do I put her with the male?
As soon as she's through laying?
After a post lay shed?
???

Never actually done it on purpose.

thanks Jeff
good luck with all of yours.
Yes, the long wait begins......
seems like it takes for ever and then when they start hatching it's like "wow, that was quick, it seems like they just layed last week"

way to go Jimmy!

When i am double clutching a female, I make sure she will eat after she has clutched. After one meal and right after she sheds is when I put the male back in. On rare instances, I have put a male in right after I know the female will eat (only if she is large enough, healthy enough to clutch a again after her first clutch)I dont like to breed a female a second time if she is too small, or if she is not eating. Any other complications like lethargy, egg binding, regurge, etc and I won't second clutch.
Hope this helps

when i double clutch i usually feed the heck out of the female. but not like normal feedings. i give handfulls of pinks or fuzzies...lots of smaller food items. ive had females double clutch without a male just by feeding them this way. i was told its the most important part of the process.
after plumping up the female ill then put the male back in after she has shed. mating happens right away in most cases.
thats all i do in order to double clutch. feed tons of small meals and reintroduce after post laying shed
