BDlvr May 01, 2009 04:13 AM

A clutch of 42 eggs. Now that's gotta be some kind of record.

Wow thats like two cluches in one nice!

Definitely a big clutch but the Bearded Dragon Manual mentions German Giants having a record of 68 eggs in one clutch Not sure if your recent clutch was laid by a GG line dragon...but its not a record breaker yet

Hope that female was given a nice bath and extra treats for all her hard work

I read that but I'm highly skeptical. A health egg weighs between 3 and 5 grams. So 68 eggs would weigh between 204 and 304 grams. That would have to be one big dragon, and having a former 800 gram egg laying female I just can't see it.

yeah, it would have to be a very big German giant...but have seen pictures of quite huge dragons on this forum over the years..one being something like 24 or 26" long and weighed 1000g...but didn't look hugely fat...but I am sure it was also a male. Though the author of the Bearded Dragon manual did indicate it wasn't a solid 'fact' but something he heard..so it could be false.. but pretty sure there have been clutches of around 50-55 eggs in the past.

In the same text he said his largest was 46. I was talking to Vickie Dachiu a few weeks ago about dragon size. Neither she, Rob, nor I have ever seen a 24" or larger dragon. A lot of stories, but on forums there is also a lot of exaggeration.

I'm sure there are some truly giant female out there. My female is bigger than a lot of the full grown male I see in the pet store, so it might be possible to lay eggs close to that amount.
