No babies yet so here's some gravid gals

JJsBoas May 01, 2009 11:38 AM

Hey all,

First off, much congratulations to everyone who’s already had a boa litter or two this year. There’ve been some outstanding baby boas born so far this year, and I can’t wait to see what else pops out this year.

Since I don’t have anything due for another month or so, I thought I would post a couple of my hopefuls for this year.

First off is my nice ’03 Normal female bred by a ‘00 DH Sunglow male. Nothing special about this litter. I just really like this female and hope to get some nice hypos and normals from the litter (all being 50% poss het albino). Here she is back in 2007.

Here she is gravid a couple days ago. She didn’t have a POS (didn’t read the boa book, I guess), but I think I caught her ovulation back in mid-January, so I think she’s due in early June. We’ll see.

Here’s a pairing that is a personal favorite of mine. My good ol’ pure-blooded Argentines finally felt like giving a go with the breeding thing. I really like Argentines, and can’t wait to get my hands on a T-positive Argie and, hopefully, a pure Argentine motley one day. So many possibilities. But for now, I’ll gladly settle for some pure Argentines. The female had a POS and is due the first week of August (really keeping my fingers crossed for this one).

Here’s the sire. A nice, dark classic Argie.

And here’s the gravid female a couple days ago. Please excuse the dirty glass and the mess in the cage. I really hate messing with gravid females.

Well, that’s about it for now. I have a couple more females that I think are gravid, but am not positive.

Hope you like the pics. Again, congrats to all who’ve already litters, and good luck to you all still expecting litters.

Best regards,

Jay

Thanks Dave,

Believe it or not, that "normal" was a pet store pick-up. Back in 2003, I traded in my ball pythons and paid about $20 bucks, I think, for this female. BEST TRADE EVER!!! She grew into a VERY great looking normal. I didn't have any confirmation that she was from a known Pastel bloodline, so I don't want to label her as such. Sooooooo, she's my nice "normal" female. I'm hoping to breed her with that male Pastel Summit Salmon from your Reese's Pieces litter last year some time down the road.

Thanks again for the compliment.

Jay
